A message from our CEO
Yoshihito Katsumata
Chief Executive Officer
Mr Yoshihito Katsumata

I have been confident in the vast potential of IT since I initially encountered the IT industry first hand more than twenty years ago. My experiences in business application development from scratch, the introduction of and establishment of systems in business fields and the development of package software enhanced my confidence over time. I founded InfoTecnos Consulting in September of 1996 so that I could help business people and entities fully enjoy the benefits of IT. There is no doubt that IT is a very powerful tool to contribute towards business success. However, in order to fully utilize the potential of IT in business, we should not overlook two points. Firstly, IT engineers have to engage themselves into a project as professionals on an equal footing with other stakeholders, such as a consultant, a project manager and end users. Secondly, an IT company has to act as a partner not just a vendor. I named my company as “ Information Technology” + “Consulting” = InfoTecnos Consulting so as to not forget those points.

In 2006, it is 9 years since ITC started business. We have established a company culture where experienced engineers, who understand customers' business, and senior consultants, who comprehend information technology, can perform their abilities fully and satisfy our customer's needs. As we continue in this direction, our challenge is to create new services and values for our customers based on our experiences and technologies.

Lastly, I have one worry regarding the IT industry in Japan. I can't see any serious effort being made to nurture professional engineers. It might be a limited observation. However, quite a few people believe that a consultant is the top of the pecking order and being a programmer is a mere step towards it. After only 2-3 years experience in programming, they tend to want to become a system engineer, then a project manager, then a consultant. Therefore, there are very few really experienced engineers who deeply understand programming and the structure of an IT system. It requires a decent amount of time and an environment where people have a respect for technology and engineering to become a good engineer. I myself have experienced being a programmer, an SE, a project manager and a senior manager. I then became an engineer. I still write programs as well as design systems. I understand that it is important to keep up with current trends. However, if we overreact to the fashion of the day and let the essence of technology and qualities of engineers depreciate, it will be to the detriment of our product. My power might not be big enough to change this situation, I will stick to maintaining the environment to nurture good engineers and keep providing our clients better services as we grow.
